Derek Swan 

BDS (Glasgow), MFGDP (UK), PG Cert Dental Sleep Medicine
Partner & Dentist 

Derek, originally from Glasgow, received his BDS from Glasgow University in 1997 and has completed the postgraduate qualification of MFGDP(UK) from the Faculty of General Dental Practice. Passionate about all aspects of general dentistry, he has worked in practices as diverse as Dumbarton and Dubai, where he treated members of the UN missions to both Afghanistan and Iraq. Derek also has a wide range of experience in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea and is a trained member of the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine; he provides treatment on referral for the Department of Sleep Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.

Derek lives in North Berwick with his wife and two children. A karate enthusiast and keen runner, he still manages to find time to coach his local kids’ rugby team.

Alastair McGill

Originally from Edinburgh, Alastair received his BDS from Glasgow University in 2003. In 2005, he completed the postgraduate qualification of MFGDP(UK) at the Faculty of General Dental Practice. With an interest in all areas of dentistry, Alastair has a passion for education and training, which allows him to provide the most up-to-date techniques and treatments available. Alastair is also committed to the education of other dental professionals and is treasurer for the East of Scotland Division of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. He loves working with patients to get the best results possible and seeing their joy at treatment results.

Outside work Alastair enjoys spending time with his wife and daughter, as well as playing golf, going fishing and being an avid rugby supporter.

Jonathan Hiscocks

Partner & Dentist

Jonathan, originally from Co Down, Northern Ireland, graduated from Glasgow University in 1997. His postgraduate qualifications include Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) and a postgraduate diploma in Dental Primary Care from Edinburgh University. He is a former director (2009-2011) of East of Scotland branch of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. He has worked in a variety of general dental practices in New Zealand and Scotland and became a partner at New Town Dental Care in 2008. He loves the variety that modern dental practice offers and is passionate about new technical advances in dentistry, in particular digital technology and implant dentistry.

Jonathan lives in Edinburgh with his wife and two children. When he is not acting as a taxi service for his children, he enjoys taking part in or watching sport and will use any excuse to get out in the fresh air.
