Derek, originally from Glasgow, received his BDS from Glasgow University in 1997 and has completed the postgraduate qualification of MFGDP(UK) from the Faculty of General Dental Practice. Passionate about all aspects of general dentistry, he has worked in practices as diverse as Dumbarton and Dubai, where he treated members of the UN missions to both Afghanistan and Iraq. Derek also has a wide range of experience in the treatment of snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea and is a trained member of the British Society of Dental Sleep Medicine; he provides treatment on referral for the Department of Sleep Medicine at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh.
Derek lives in North Berwick with his wife and two children. A karate enthusiast and keen runner, he still manages to find time to coach his local kids’ rugby team.

Originally from Edinburgh, Alastair received his BDS from Glasgow University in 2003. In 2005, he completed the postgraduate qualification of MFGDP(UK) at the Faculty of General Dental Practice. With an interest in all areas of dentistry, Alastair has a passion for education and training, which allows him to provide the most up-to-date techniques and treatments available. Alastair is also committed to the education of other dental professionals and is treasurer for the East of Scotland Division of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. He loves working with patients to get the best results possible and seeing their joy at treatment results.
Outside work Alastair enjoys spending time with his wife and two-year-old daughter, as well as playing golf, going fishing and being an avid rugby supporter.

Jonathan, originally from Co Down, Northern Ireland, graduated from Glasgow University in 1997. His postgraduate qualifications include Membership of the Faculty of General Dental Practice (UK) and a postgraduate diploma in Dental Primary Care from Edinburgh University. He is a former director (2009-2011) of East of Scotland branch of the Faculty of General Dental Practice. He has worked in a variety of general dental practices in New Zealand and Scotland and became a partner at New Town Dental Care in 2008. He loves the variety that modern dental practice offers and is passionate about new technical advances in dentistry, in particular digital technology and implant dentistry.
Jonathan lives in Edinburgh with his wife and two children. When he is not acting as a taxi service for his children, he enjoys taking part in or watching sport and will use any excuse to get out in the fresh air.

Philip qualified from the University of Glasgow in 1998 and 2000 with degrees in Anatomy and Dentistry respectively. He gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 2004 and was awarded membership to Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow without examination in 2009. His worldwide postgraduate training and education has centred upon dental implant treatments. He works primarily from his own clinic, but has been part of the New Town Dental Care implant team since 2009.
Philip is from Glasgow, which is where he lives with his wife and their four young children. On the rare occasion that he has spare time away from his business and his family, Philip enjoys cooking and fine dining, having worked as a chef throughout dental school. He is a consistently mediocre golfer who runs, cycles and enjoys fly fishing and spending time in the garden.

CEB Dip Dent Hygiene Glasgow
Margaret qualified at Glasgow Dental Hospital and worked in a variety of dental practices before joining the team at New Town Dental in 2009. Interested in all aspects of dental care, she has a vast knowledge of and experience in helping people to improve and maintain their oral health.
Margaret practices mindfulness and meditation and tries to incorporate the benefits of both into her work and home life. She is also interested in nutrition and alternative therapies. Outside work, Margaret enjoys music, dancing and working in her garden.

CEB Dip Dent Hygiene
Since graduating from Edinburgh School of Dental Hygiene in 1985, Alison has gained a wealth of experience in General Practice and joined the team at New Town Dental Care earlier this year. She enjoys working with patients, tailoring advice to their individual needs, and educating and motivating patients to achieve and maintain optimum oral health. Her friendly and reassuring manner always helps put patients at ease. She has a particular interest in promoting health and well-being and complements her role at the clinic by practicing reflexology, sports massage, foot health and personal training.
Outside work, Alison enjoys running, playing golf and walking her Jack Russell Mickey in the Pentland Hills.

Rebecca has been involved in dental care for 10 years, starting out as a clinical support worker in the NHS. She has been a qualified dental nurse for four years and joined New Town Dental Practice in 2016. She loves working with people and helping to make all of her patients’ experience at the practice a positive one.
Rebecca lives in West Lothian, where she loves to go for long country walks with her dog Rory. A keen baker, she is always trying out new recipes.

Born in Dundee, Yasmin moved to Edinburgh when she was just three years old and still loves living in the city. She started her Dental Nursing training in 2016 at Edinburgh College and is currently awaiting her final results. She enjoys all aspects of her job and loves facing new challenges that every day brings, which pushes her to further her personal development skills.
Outside work, she is an avid traveller and loves exploring new places. And if she isn’t off travelling, you’ll find her snowboarding, or at a concert or music festival.
Dawn joined New Town Dental Care as a receptionist in April 2017. She feels that a friendly smile and greeting helps put even the most nervous of patients at ease and takes pride in greeting patients and making them feel at ease the minute they walk through the door. Dawn loves the variety that working in the Health Care sector brings and enjoys helping to make a visit to the dentist as pleasant as possible.
Dawn lives in Edinburgh with her partner and two daughters, loves catching up with family and friends, and enjoys going for dinner and drinks in the city.
